    Product Story:

The Lounge Chair and ottoman are furnishings made of molded plywood and leather, designed for the furniture company. They are officially titled  Lounge and Ottoman and were released in 1956 after years of development by designers. It was the first chair that the  designed for a high-end market. Examples of these furnishings are part of the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art.

Aimed to develop furniture that could be mass-produced and affordable, with the exception of the Lounge Chair. This luxury item was inspired by the traditional English Club Chair. The Lounge Chair has become iconic with Modern style design, although when it was first made,  remarked in a letter to Charles that the chair looked "comfortable and un-designy". Charles's vision was for a chair with "the warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman's mitt." The chair is composed of three curved plywood shells: the headrest, the backrest and the seat. In modern production, the shells are made up of five thin layers of plywood which are covered by a Brazilian rosewood veneer. The layers are glued together and shaped under heat and pressure. Earlier models are differentiated from newer models by the sets of rubber spacers between the aluminum spines and the wood panels first used in the earliest production models (and then hard plastic washers used in later versions) early first series versions of the chair used three screws to secure the armrests, second series models used two. In the earlier models, the zipper around the cushions may have been brown or black as well, and in newer models the zippers are black. The shells and the seat cushions are essentially the same shape, and composed of two curved forms interlocking to form a solid mass. The chair back and headrest are identical in proportion, as are the seat and the ottoman. Early ottomans had removable rubber slide on feet with metal glides.

Since its introduction, the chair has been in continuous production in America. Later, Vitra began producing the chair for the European market. It was licenced for a short period to Hille in the mid 1960s, but the licence was withdrawn due to quality issues also some slight changes to the original design - notably the cast base which was altered to be thinner. Immediately following its release, other furniture companies began to copy the chair's design. Some made direct copies, others were merely 'influenced' by the design. Most notably the former Plycraft Company issued dozens of chairs that were direct copies of or in-the-style-of the  670. Later Chinese and European companies began making direct copies. However, Vitra remain the only two companies to produce these chairs with the  name attached.

    Product Story:
The Egg Chair was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the Radisson SAS hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is perhaps the single-most recognizable icon of 20th century interior design, a typical Jacobsen style. More than 50 years after its design, the Egg Chair is still used in advertising, film and television as a symbol of sophisticated urbanism.
It is believed to be inspired by Eero Saarinen's "Womb chair", from which it borrows some traits.

Related to the Egg chairs is the Swan chair and, to some degree, many of Jacobsen's plywood chairs such as "7", the Ant, the Cigar, the Grand Prix-chair, the Pot, the Drop and the Giraffe. The Egg Chair(like the Swan) was also designed as a couch. While the Swan couch is still in production, only a handful of Egg couches have ever been made. A few were made for the Radisson Hotel, and a few years back, some were made as a "special edition" couch. The reason for the limited production of the Egg couch, besides the wish for exclusivity, is the difficulty involved in making it, plus a design flaw: the couch is too big to be covered by two entire cow-hides, which is only just possible with the Egg-chair. This leaves a very visible stitching down the middle of the couch. This problem can, however, be solved by making the upholstery in fabric rather than leather.

Our Egg Chair for sale is ideal for contemporary living or office spaces. Product Story:

The Pavilion chair is a chair designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich. It was originally designed for the German Pavilion, that country's entry for the International Exposition of 1929, which was hosted by Spain. It was first used in Villa Tugendhat, a masterpiece of Mies van der Rohe in the City of Brno (Czech Republic).

The frame was initially designed to be bolted together, but was redesigned in 1950 using stainless steel, which allowed the frame to be formed by a seamless piece of metal, giving it a smoother appearance. Bovine leather replaced the ivory-colored pigskin which was used for the original pieces.

The functional design and elements of it that were patented by Mies in Germany, Spain and the United States in the 1930s have since expired. The Pavilion chair was manufactured in the US and Europe in limited production from the 1930s to the 1950s. In 1953, six years after Reich's death, Mies ceded his rights and his name on the design to product, knowing that his design patents were expired. This collaboration then renewed popularity in the design.

Designer claims to be the current licensed manufacturer and holder of all trademark rights to the design. In 1965, Designer purchased the trademark rights from Drexel. In 2004, designer received trade dress rights to the design from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Despite these trademarks, a large replica market continues. Gordon International New York has continued to manufacture the designs since the 1970s, even after a court battle against designer in 2005.[citation needed] In 2011, another court battle erupted between Designer and RegencyShop.com; the outcome is pending. In 2013, RegencyShop.com filed a counter-suit against designer in Central District of California, Western Division alleging fraud on the USPTO regarding furniture designs.

Although many architects and furniture designers of the Bauhaus era were intent on providing well-designed homes and impeccably manufactured furnishings for the "common man," the Pavilion chair was an exception. It was designed for the Spanish Royalty to oversee the opening ceremonies of the exhibition and described by Time magazine as inhabiting "his sumptuous German pavilion." The form is thought to be extrapolated from Roman folding chairs known as the Curule chair – upholstered stools used by Roman aristocracy. And despite the industrial appearance the Pavilion chair requires much hand craftsmanship.

Since 1953 Inc has manufactured the chair. They make the frame in two different steel configurations, chrome and stainless. The chair is almost completely hand-laboured, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's signature is stamped into each chair. Reproductions proliferate worldwide and are sold under different marketing names. In his 1981 book about modern architecture, From Bauhaus to Our House, Tom Wolfe mocked the Pavilion chair as "the Platonic ideal of chair", and wrote that, despite its high price, owning one had become a necessity for young architects: "When you saw the holy object on the sisal rug, you knew you were in a household where a fledgeling architect and his young wife had sacrificed everything to bring the symbol of the godly mission into their home."

Eero Saarinen created the Womb Chair, originally known as the Wombat Chair in 1948. The Womb Chair's organic form is representative of the mid-century Scandinavian modernism style of furniture using synthetic materials to create inspired forms. He had three design principles ¨C Function, Structure and being part of the time. Eero Saarinen designed with the human body form in mind. A simple concept yes, but many Product Storys prefer aesthetics to functionality. In nearly every case, a piece of furniture that rises to become a classic has both striking artistic form as well as function.

The  Lounge Chair first appeared on the Arlene Francis "Home" show broadcast on the NBC television network in the USA in 1956. Immediately following the debut, Herman Miller launched an advertising campaign that highlighted the versatility of the chair. Print ads depicted the 670 in a Victorian parlor, occupied by a grandmother shelling peas on the front porch of an American Gothic style house, and in the middle of a sunny field of hay.

The Lounge Chair is widely considered one of the most significant designs of the 20th century. It has become the consummate lounge set, timelessly blending old-fashioned comfort and visionary modernism.

    Product Story:
Shin and Tomoko Azumi design furniture, products and stage sets in an elegantly playful style. Both the Azumis were born in Japan: Shin in Kobe in 1965 and Tomoko in Hiroshima in 1966. They met at Kyoto City University of Art, where they studied product design and environmental design respectively. Their first collaboration was a group sculpture project in their first year in Kyoto. In 1995, they formed Azumi and started establishing themselves in the design world by putting limited editions into production and gradually winning commercial commissions. They concentrated on pieces which could be economically produced in small quantities. Since 2005, Shin Azumi and Tomoko Azumi have been operating individual design studios; the partnership has now dissolved.

    Product Story:
MLF Swivel Armchair is made of tubular steel and fully swivels. Chair has black or white leather upholstered seat. Enjoy this chair in your dining room, lounge or even in your office.MLFclassified seating furniture into four groups upon the basis of its primary function: relaxation, comfort, conversation or work/eating. Consequently, the Siege Tournant is utilized not only in the office, but also at the dining table. This upholstered swivel chair made of tubular steel was first introduced in 1928 as part of an interior by Charlotte Perriand, who represented Modern's office at the "Salon des Artistes Decorateurs".

The basic form of the Siege Tournant recalls a bentwood model of the Thonet Company that was often used for the furnishing of his own architectural interiors. However, in the case of this chair, the legs, seat and backrest are visually distinguished as three separate structural elements, and their connecting points are reduced to a minimum. The sole difference between the Siege Tournant and a stool created at the same time is the combination arm and backrest, which is formed out of a piece of bent steel tubing, enveloped in leather upholstery and mounted on the seat surface.

They also worked in the fields of industrial and graphic design, fine art and film. They married in 1941 and moved to California where they continued their furniture design work with molding plywood.

In 1946, Evans Products began producing the molded plywood furniture. Their molded plywood chair was called "the chair of the century" by the influential architectural critic Esther McCoy. Soon production was taken over, who continues to produce the furniture in the United States to this day.

They established their long and legendary relationship in 1946 with this boldly original molded plywood dining chair featuring wooden legs. Since then, the aesthetic integrity, enduring charm, and comfort of the dining chair and its counterpart lounge chair have earned them recognition as the best of modern design. Their designs and innovative use of materials made this house a mecca for architects and designers from all over the world.

    Product Story:
The year was 1960. Danish modern furniture design legend, Hans J Wegner sketched an upholstered wing chair literally on a drawing board using pencil and paper. The chair design had modern clean lines and an unmistakable Danish modern stance. The enveloping wrap provides the front ward looking encased structural groove of the arms. The precise curved wing chair back featured a crease folding inward which spans at shoulder height the width across. Yes, these features were aesthetically genius to the design. But they were also the foundation of Wegner's Ergonomics of modern clean form and comfort in functionality. The CH445 Wing Chair provides unexpected comfort in multiple seating positions from curled up to proper upright.

    Product Story:
The PK22 originally introduced in 1956 offers exquisite modernist form and unexpectedly comfortable seating ability. The simplistic stainless steel and leather combination won design awards immediately after its introduction. A logical addition to the discerning modernist collection, the PK22 occupies permanent space in the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Poul designed the PK22 chair in a form providing attributes related to the structure of a spring. The design consists of a pair of legs, a pair of side-rails and underneath, a pair of slightly "U" shaped crossbars raised off the frame. True to the original, this quality reproduction is entirely crafted of brushed satin #304 stainless steel for maximum strength and corrosion resistance. The seat and back are covered in 2MM thick Premium Genuine Top Grain Aniline Dyed leather. Its seating comfort is derived from the angle of tilt and the high-density cushion enveloped by the leather surface. The MLF reproduction of this chair is authentic in all details. A reproduction that upholds the original intent, from the dimensions, to the type and use of materials involved in it's hand-crafting.

    Product Story:
The PK20 Cantilever Lounger was originally released in the late 1960's. The Cantilever design had been attempted before with Mies Van Der Rohe's Cantilever chair. Poul was determined to surpass the Mies design. It is completely up to interpretation but he may very well have succeeded with the introduction of the PK20. The design of the PK20 consists of several elements. A soft to the touch 2MM thick Genuine Top Grain Aniline Leather "slipcover" envelopes the low profile high-density foam and Dacron cushion. The slipcover is sewn in tubes providing incredible strength and the desired "ribbed" appearance. This suspends between two brushed satin (#304) Stainless Steel side frames to form the seat and back of the PK20 lounger. Poul designed the frame so the splayed side rails keep the leather slipcover under continual pressure. The PK20 has been dubbed one of the most comfortable mid-century chairs created. Its seating comfort is derived from the angle of tilt, the suspended leather surface and the spring cantilever design of the legs. The MLF reproduction of this chair is authentic in all details.
